Bhadiad

Bhadiad, situated in the Kathiawar region of Gujarat, was an estate (Taluka) ruled by the Chudasama Rajput dynasty, a prominent Chandravanshi clan that historically held sway over Junagadh. During the British colonial era, Bhadiad operated as a non-salute state under the Eastern Kathiawar Agency, maintaining administrative autonomy while paying annual tribute to the British authorities and the Gaekwad of Baroda. The region is historically significant not only for its Rajput lineage but also for its cultural syncretism, epitomized by the revered shrine of Hazrat Pir Mahmud Shah Bukhari, which has attracted both Hindu and Muslim pilgrims since the medieval era. Following India's independence in 1947, the taluka acceded to the Indian Union, subsequently integrating into the Saurashtra State and later the Ahmedabad district of Gujarat.
