History

Berda Thikana, situated in the historic Marwar region of Rajasthan, was established as a prominent fiefship of the Jodha Rathore clan, tracing its noble lineage directly back to Rao Jodha, the illustrious 15th-century founder of Jodhpur. As a loyal vassal state of the Kingdom of Marwar, the Thakurs of Berda rendered significant military and administrative services to the parent state, defending the territory during turbulent periods of Mughal expansion and later Maratha incursions. Throughout the British Raj, the Thikana maintained its traditional feudal privileges and land rights under the treaty alliance of the Jodhpur State, eventually transitioning into the modern era when the estate was integrated into the Indian Union in 1949 following India's independence.
