History
The Thikana of Basantgarh, associated with the illustrious Jaisa branch of theBhati Rajputs, traces its ancestral roots back to Maharajkumar Jaisa, the eldest son of Rawal Jaisal, the founder of Jaisalmer. Located in the rugged terrains of Sirohi, this Thikana was established as a strategic outpost where the Jaisa Bhatis asserted their local influence, balancing geopolitical relations between the princely states of Sirohi and Mewar. Throughout the medieval era, the chiefs of Basantgarh distinguished themselves as feudal lords and warriors, defending their territories during turbulent Mughal and Maratha incursions, before eventually transitioning into a stable agricultural and administrative estate under British paramountcy and later integrating into the modern state of Rajasthan post-independence.
