History
The Thikana of Meriyakhedi (also spelled as Meriyakheri or Meriahkheri) is an estate ruled by the Jodha branch of the Rathore dynasty. The lineage traces its origin back to the legendary Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur State in 1459. The Rathores of the Malwa region, particularly those associated with Ratlam, Sailana, and Sitamau, branched out from the royal house of Marwar (Jodhpur) during the 17th century. The foundation of this branch in Malwa was laid by Maharaja Ratan Singh Rathore, a great-grandson of Raja Udai Singh of Jodhpur, who was granted the territory of Ratlam by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his extraordinary bravery in battle.
